History of Math
The third Swameeji of the Math parampara, Shri Jeevottama Tirtha, has made a pilgrimage to Asetu Himachal and wrote his experiences in a book “Teerthavala”. During the Pilgrimage, he found three idols in the Shila (Gandaki) river. One of them was established to commemorate the recapturing of the Math near the Kotiteertha Gokarn and named it as Bhovijaya Vithala. Second idol was established at his birth place Basrur in Shake 1472 (1550 AD), and named as Digvijaya Vithala in memory of his pilgrimage. Jeevottam is the only name among the 627+ yativaryaas of 27 Maths of Vaishnava heritage.
• Shri Lakshminath Teertha, the 16th Swameeji of the Math Tradition observed Chaturmasa in the Math and renovated the Math .
• Shri Ananda Theertha, the 17th Swameeji of the Math Tradition, and the disciple of Shri Purnaprajnya Teerth along with Kashi Mathadheesh Sumathindra Swamiji travelled to Nagaramath
• The 20th Swamiji of the Math tradition Shri Indirakanta Teertha Swamiji carried out the Jeernoddhara of the Math.
• Kashimathadheesh Shri Sukrateendra Teertha Swamiji met 20th Yativarya of Gokarna Math and Shishya Shri Kamalanath Teertha in Shake 1859 Magha Shukla Padya (01/02/1938)
• For the purpose of renovating the Girbhagudi by temporarily shifting Shri Digvijaya Vitthala in the Balalaya in the hands of Shri Vidyadhiraj teerth Swamiji. In Shake 1894 Paridhavi Samvatsara Nija Vaishakh Bahula Panchami (02/06/1972) done the punar Pratishtha of in the hands of Shri Dwarakanath Teertha Swamiji.
•Shri Vidyadhiraja Teertha Swamiji carried out the Jeernoddhara of Front and left side Agrashala in 1998
• Shri Vidyadhiraja Teertha Swamiji laid foundation stone for Shri Jeevottam Sabhagraha on 14.12.2000 and inaugurated it on 04.03.2002.
