History of Swamiji

स्नष्टुमष्टौ मठान्येन महान्यलः कृतोऽपि सः ।
विष्णुना चोदितस्त्यत्को रघुचन्द्रगुरुं भने ॥

Srmad Raghuchandra teerth Swamiji is 8th in the lineage and Sri Digvijay Ramachandra teerth initiated Him. Sri Swamiji stayed at mostly at the Math in Gokarn. Records present at the Math show Swamiji has made many teertha yatras.

Sriman Madhwavharya had initiated eight brahmacharis into sanyasa and made eight maths to worship Sri Krishna at Udupi on a rotation. Srimad Raghuchandra teerth Swamiji also thought of starting a similar system for Partagali math. Swamiji selected eight Vatus and perfomed the preparatory rites. Then three Vatus were given sanyasa deeksha. Soon after , one of the shishya attained Haripada. Swamiji then gave deeksha to fourth Vatu. He also attained Haripada. Seeing this Sri Raghuchandra teerth Swamiji was shocked. When Swamiji was in deeper meditation to seek guidance, there was a divine vision. “ It is not right to follow Sriman Madhwacharya in this respect. It would not be possible for others to do it. Give up this attempt to establish eight maths”
Swamiji, according to this divine guidance stopped initiating any more Vatus in to sanyasa.

From those Vatus already initiated into sanyasa only three remained. Sri Lakshmi Narayana teertha, Sri Vyasa terrtha and Sri Samyameendra teertha. All three were great scholars and following sanyasa dharma. It was problematic for Guru Swamiji to choose the predecessor. All three were competent and were full of Jnana, Bhakti and Vairagya. After some time this problem was solved by Shishyas.
Sri Samyameendra teertha left for Kashi. Sri Vyasa teertha refused to take over the reins and continued shastrabhyasa and worship Sri Ramadeva at Partagali. Later Sri Vyasa terrtha attained Hari pada in Partagali only. There are only two instances in the history of Partagali math of Shishyas attaining Haripada without becoming peethadhipatis. The Vrundavanas of both Yatis can be seen on the east side of Yajna shala. There names are also indicated above the Vrundavanas. First is Sri Vasa teertha and second is Narahari teertha, first shishya of Srimad Indirakant teerth.

यात राहिले श्रीलक्ष्मीनारायणतीर्थ. त्यांच्याकडे मुद्रा, पादुका श्री रामदेव वीरविठ्ठलाची विग्रहे, धर्माध्यक्षपदाचा मान व मठाचा सर्व कारभार सोपवून गुरु श्रीरघुचंद्रतीर्थस्वामी होन्नावर मठात निघून गेले.
श्रीरघुचंद्रतीर्थांनी आपल्या अल्प कारकीर्दीत तीन वेळा गंगायात्रा केली असल्याचा उल्लेख सापडतो. श्रीरघुचंद्रतीर्थ तीर्थयात्रेस गेले असताना त्यांनी काशीतील बिंदुमाधव गल्लीत असलेल्या संस्थानच्या आद्यमठाची डागडुजी केली. मठ प्राचीन असला तरी त्याची जमीनविषयक कागदपत्रे उपलब्ध नव्हती. म्हणून तारीख (रमजान)१७ माहे सन १०६९ रोजि स्थानिक सत्तेच्या आदेशाने जमीन विकत घेण्याचा करार केला. त्या दिवशी जागेसह घराची किंमत रु. १०२५ ठरली व विसारा म्हणून निम्मी रक्कम श्री रघुचंद्र तीर्थांनी लक्ष्मणदास वलद विट्टलदास ईबन कासिदास व उपाध्ये गोवर्धनदास बिन राया ओपाध्य व अध्य उपाध्य यांना दिली. हा करार काशीच्या काजीकडे नोंदवला असून त्यावर साक्षिदारांच्या सह्या आहेत.
श्री रघुचंद्र तीर्थांनी शके १६०४ दुंदुभी संवत्सर पौष्य पुर्णिमेला होन्नावरांत समाधी घेतली. श्री राम मंदिरात त्यांची समाधि आहे.

The remaining one was Sri Lakshmi Narayana teertha.Sri Raghuchandra teerth swamiji handed over the Mudras, Padukas, Sri Veera Vithal vigraha, Patta Shishya adhikara to Him, alongwith responsibility to leading the matha and society.
Sri Raghuchandra teerth swamiji was then travelling around the society for dharma prachara and stayed in Sri Rama Mandira in Honavar.

Records in the Matha show that in the 13 years of being on Gurupeetha Sri Swamiji went to Varanasi three times. Once while camping there Swamiji found that there wereno proper documentation for the Math property and decided to purchase some more land along with proper documents. On ( Ramzan date) 17th year 1069 handed over Rupees 1025 and some additional costs to Lakshmandas Valad Vitthaldas Ibn. Kasidas, Upadhye Govardhandas Bin Yaya Upadhya and Adhya Upadhya. This document has been registered with the Officer Kazi of Kashi and there are signatures of witnesses.

It was on Pousha Shukla 15, 1604 dundubhi samvatsara, corresponding to Tuesday, 2-1-1683 HH Sri Swamiji attained mukti when He was camping in Sri Ram Mandir , Honavar, Uttara Kannada, where the Vrindavana is present.
